Match the DYMO supply system to the exact machine. Most LabelManager shopping starts with D1 cassettes, LetraTag models use LT cassettes, and LabelWriter models use rolls. The LabelWriter 450 DUO also has a separate D1 tape mechanism.

Do not choose by width alone. A 12 mm D1 cassette and a 12 mm LT cassette are different systems.

Use the correct compatibility chart

DYMO publishes separate North America charts for LabelManager, LetraTag and LabelWriter. Each chart lists literal item references; it is a better starting point than a listing that names several printer families without explaining the media.

The LabelManager 280 list includes quarter-, three-eighths- and half-inch D1 tape. The 500TS list extends through one inch. Maximum width belongs to the machine, not the D1 family as a whole.

Keep regional codes intact

The North America charts contain numeric and S-prefixed item references. Keep the complete code; do not silently replace one with a similar European retail number.

For 550-series and 5XL rolls, also check DYMO’s manufacturing-date restriction. Matching the label size and printed item number does not establish compatibility for an older roll.
